Napkin AI Free is enough to send a finished diagram as a branded PNG or PDF. The decision changes if the recipient needs an editable PowerPoint file, a scalable SVG, or a file without the Napkin logo. Check those requirements before spending credits on the final version.
This is an editorial review of Napkin's pricing and help pages, checked November 4, 2026. The handoff below is a proposed acceptance check; we did not generate or export a diagram from an account.
| Handoff | What to send | Free-plan decision |
|---|
| Paste a diagram into a wiki or email | PNG of the selected visual | Unlimited exports; confirm the logo is acceptable and labels are readable at the final size |
| Share a finished process for review or printing | PDF of the visual or full document | Unlimited exports; check page breaks if sending the full document |
| Resize a diagram for several layouts | SVG | Limited free allowance; check how many exports remain before promising multiple variants |
| Let a colleague revise a slide | PowerPoint, or Google Slides through the documented export route | Limited free allowance; Google Slides counts like PowerPoint for presentation exports |
The credits and plans guide confirms limited PPT and SVG exports on Free. The pricing page highlights unlimited PNG/PDF on Free and unlimited PPT/SVG on paid plans. Neither gives a numeric free PPT/SVG allowance in those descriptions. Check the export dialog before committing to a delivery date. If you only need to embed a diagram in a deck, a PNG can be sufficient; it won't let the recipient edit individual labels or arrows.
Choose the right scope as well as the right file type. Napkin's visual export guide describes selecting a single visual frame. For a full document, its PDF guide describes continuous, A4, and 16:9 layouts. An A4 document for printing and a single image for a wiki are different deliverables, even when they contain the same diagram.
Free is an ongoing $0 plan with 500 AI credits per week. The credit guide estimates about one credit per selected word for visual generation. As a planning example, selecting 80 words for three generations would use roughly 240 credits at that rate. That is an estimate, not a measured charge; check the app for the cost when shown. Directly editing text, colors, fonts, or elements does not use credits. If only one label is wrong, fix it rather than regenerate the whole diagram.
The weekly allowance does not roll over. Paid plan allowances refresh monthly and likewise do not roll over; separately purchased top-ups are distinct from included credits. The pricing table lists optional top-ups for Pro. Keep those outside the subscription estimate.
| Plan | Monthly billing, per person | Annual billing, per person | What changes for delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 500 weekly credits; branded exports; limited PPT/SVG |
| Plus | $12/month | $9/month equivalent ($108/year) | 10,000 monthly credits; unlimited PPT/SVG; logo removal |
| Pro | $30/month | $22/month equivalent | 30,000 monthly credits; uploaded fonts and optional credit top-ups |
USD prices are from the vendor's monthly and yearly pricing display. Annual totals above are calculated from the displayed rates; verify the amount and taxes at checkout. Paid pricing is per person; an extra seat can increase the bill. The watermark guide says the logo toggle cannot be turned off on Free. If a clean client file is the only missing requirement, Plus is the first paid tier to consider. Pro makes more sense when you need its credit capacity, font uploads, or other Pro features.
Open the Napkin AI card and start with a branded sample if it fits your brief. Upgrade only if the sample shows a concrete blocker: branding, repeated PPT/SVG exports, or generation volume.
